I've been talking about creating my own weblog since March...and I've finally done it!
For almost ten years I've been posting my thoughts on the Internet at my website LaMusica.com. The only difference is that I didn't have all the fancy journaling tools unique to weblogs. I started out in 1995 editing HTML pages in notepad then moving to HotDog, then FrontPage and daintily landing in Dreamweaver. At that point we'd already installed a content management system (Coranto) that our programming whiz Dennis coded the hell out of.
During that journey through software I wrote (and wrote and wrote and wrote) about everything and anything to do with Latin music. From a content perspective, my op-ed column, and my up-to-the-minute live event coverage were, for all practical purposes, blogs. I wrote my opinions in "A Little Chisme (gossip)" and I'd manually create blow-by-blow entries during the live coverage.
So I'm excited that I got this up and running for two reasons. First, I have all the cool functionality now which frees me up to focus on writing. Second, I'm no longer restricted to writing about Latin music and culture; we can talk about anything here!
So....let's get started!
