I don't have a clue about gardening, but with the help of several books, the Internet, and my subscription to the Home Gardening Club of America, I'm making an attempt. This summer I'm going to try and raise vegetables on a Manhattan terrace.

Somehow these babies managed to survive living with me for more than a year! They were first in my windowboxes and then I brought them indoors. They flowered indoors (a little bit) but now that they are back outdoors they are doing really well. A little sunshine and a little Miracle-gro go a long way. They also seem to be doing better since I staked 'em with those wooden skewers. It gets very windy on my terrace and this keeps the stems supported.

This is a Meyer Lemon Tree. The flowers smell absolutely amazing! I am going to try and find out if I can make perfume oil from the flowers. Meyer lemon trees can be brought indoors when the weather gets cool so I should be able to have this all year 'round.

These are called 506 Roma Windowbox tomatoes. I just "harvested" these two and they have another day or two to ripen.

These are called "Jingle Bell" peppers for reasons unknown. I think they are doing really well so far and the plant looks healthy.

Here is a handful of the little grape tomatoes I harvested today. I guess they took about a month to grow. Aren't they cute? I have to let them ripen for a few days. After that I'm going to either put them in a salad, marinate them and serve them as an appetizer or just eat them one by one like, well, like grapes!
