Shawl for Mom

I wanted to make my mom a nice shawl that she could snuggle up in when she's enjoying a good book. I started out knitting the shawl using the pattern on the label, but I kept dropping stitches trying to do the lace pattern and got frustrated. At the rate I was going, I would have finished her shawl by June! So I just switched to the crochet pattern which worked up fairly quickly. Microspun worsted weight yarn is really soft and has a nice sheen to it plus it's machine washable since it's acrylic.

Next up: another baby afghan!!

I have to agree with you about the "splittiness". I was okay with the crocheting, but that made it really difficult with knitting because I kept adding extra stitches by accidentally splitting the yarn into two strands per stitch instead of four.

Blog-nicity! I made the Microspun shawl (knit) in the Mocha shade. My husband fell in love with the feel of the yarn as I was making the shawl, and asked for a nap blanket in the same pattern. I used the same lavender you chose for your mom's shawl. I doubled the width of the shawl pattern, and I'm nearly done with Skein 8 of 12. I love the feel of Microspun, too. Didn't care for the splitty-ness of it, though.
