I am no longer a Manhattanite.
After living in lower Manhattan for 15 years I have made the move to my third boro: Queens.
The one thing I dreaded was noisy neighbors and, yep, I got 'em. I was really spoiled in my last building. We had super-thick walls and must've had concrete between floors because I hardly ever heard a peep out of anyone in my building.
But, I've got the television, the stereo, the high heeled shoes and (worst of all) the snoring of the people that live upstairs from me.
So far it seems that they quiet down after 11 p.m. -- except for the snoring that is.
All I can think is: "Hey, I'm not married to this guy, why do I have to put up with his snoring?"
That's assuming that it is indeed a guy who's snoring.
I'm hoping that perhaps someone is having a bad cold or perhaps an allergy attack and that this isn't a common occurence. It definitely isn't as bad as the overnight construction noise in my old neighborhood or the traffic on the West Side Highway that used to "lull" me to sleep.
I'm ruling out earplugs, because I don't think they're safe to sleep with, but if you have any suggestions on how to block out the noise, feel free to jump in.
