My cell phone cloning nightmare is over, everything's been resolved and my cell phone is back up and running -- even the PCS Vision web access. While trying to solve the problem, I discovered that my contract with them is already over. At one point, after a customer service rep told me there was nothing more she could do until Fraud Services were open again the following Monday, she said, and I'm not kidding, "Before you go, I'd like to offer you a chance to save $100 by signing up with us for a new contract." I'm like, "uh, why don't you fix my problem first, give me a reasonable explanation why this has happened to me twice and then, maybe we can talk about me signing up again." Imagine! I know she was just doing her job, but there should be some kind of protocol as far as when reps should market new services.
Anyway, while searching for reviews of new cell phones (FYI, I want something that does everything -- 2-way texting, camera, web access, pda, etc. -- and doesn't weigh all that much), I stumbled on an article by Guy Kewney from eWeek.com who offers a rather compelling argument for allowing cell phones on public transportation as a safety measure.
After reading his article, I'd offer a modified version -- don't know if there is even a way to do this -- that would allow you to call 911 from a subway or a plane only. What do you think?
