Can't believe something that feels so recent is considered historical enough to inspire a Top Ten list of outdated words from "that era." CNET, in honor of their tenth anniversary, put together a list of Top 10 Buzzwords from the Dot Com era. Who can forget words like "eyeballs," "dot bomb" and the dreaded "y2k"?
My web site - LaMusica.com - is also celebrating its 10th Anniversary so as a veteran of the days before the dot com boom and way for the bust, I found the list quite amusing. I do agree with a suggestion from a CNET forum user that "leverage" was missing from the list. I think "strategic alliance" and "stock options" should be there too, but I suppose they're still in use and not restricted to tech firms.
Their latest list is the Top 10 Dot Com Flops. Some were great ideas that grew too fast, others were just more hype over substance. But I did love Pets.com, so much that I actually have two Sock Puppets one that I play with (well, not recently) and one that I keep still in the original box just in case it's ever worth something.
Well, I'm just very grateful I did well in the dot com era and I'm really happy that LaMusica is still online (thanks Luis and Dennis!) and not on that list.
