This weekend will be the last weekend for the NY Red Cross call center for hurricane info. I'm going to be moving into a training position, but still have decided if it will be for Disaster Services (that's for training volunteers for disaster response) or for Community Outreach (that's teaching Emergency Preparedness, for example).
I found an interesting article about the role of mental health volunteers in a disaster on redcross.org. I think that this is a nice way to close out my series of posts on the hurricane relief efforts. It kind of takes things full circle, because as I wrote in earlier posts, I became a volunteer because of my experience being a Red Cross client after 9/11.
The hugs matter.
