What a busy (and productive) weekend I had. And I got extra sleep.
Friday I covered the Z100 Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden. Of course, I was in the press room the whole time so what I saw of the concert was on the monitors. Not all the artists came backstage, but I got some good sound from those that did. Briefly, Frankie J looks fab with a full head of hair (he said "my manager threatened to kill me if I didn't grow it out"); Rihanna is gorgeous, but shy; Fall Out Boy and The Click Five were dissing each other in a manner that didn't seem entirely in jest; and Kanye West explained that he isn't sure he'll win the Grammy this year and he knows he has some heavy competition. The Backstreet Boys were missing Howie Dorough. Rumor had it that he missed his flight to New York. They never made it to the press room. Shakira didn't come backstage either, which is unusual for her. I heard that she was performing at a private Sony function earlier this week when she got a back spasm and had to stop her show. I hope she's not overdoing it.
The rest of the weekend was spent in glorious productivity. I shredded a box worth of old files, did about one hundred loads of wash (okay, that's what it felt like), I installed Franklin Plan Plus on my laptop, paid some bills, filled out some forms to be faxed tomorrow.
Somehow in my busy weekend I managed to watch half of Season 4 of 24. I should get the next set of discs by mid-week and that means that I'm way ahead of schedule for when Season 5 debuts in January. I was really determined to catch up. I love this series! I didn't know what I've been missing for the last four years. Season 5 will open with a 2 hour episode on January 15th and a second 2 hour episode the following night.
I also caught up on the most recent episodes of Showtime's Sleeper Cell which is very well done and very scary!
As the Co-Op Turns Update: I also called the management company to complain about the bathroom ceiling which is drip, drip, dripping again. I think it's been, at most, two weeks since the super "fixed" the problem by patching it with who knows what and letting it dry, ignoring my repeated questions of "but aren't you just covering it up and won't this happen again?" And I don't think I mentioned this yet but last week I was woken up before 6 a.m. again by my upstairs neighbors clomping around. I went upstairs and knocked on the door to speak with them. I spoke to a young woman there and as nicely as I could I said, "Hi, I'm Judy I live downstairs below your apartment and I'm sure you don't realize it but since the floors in our building are so old there's an awful lot of noise in my apartment when you guys walk around." Her response was, "I don't see how there could be any noise, there's only four of us living here." Only four? That's kind of a lot for a two room apartment, especially if she means four adults. That would certainly explain why there's always someone home and why the noise goes until 2:00 a.m. and starts up again at 6:00 a.m. -- they're working in shifts!
