Not such great ratings for the Oscars this year:
The Oscars are a ratings dud. Nielsen Media Research says preliminary ratings for the 80th annual Academy Awards telecast are 14 percent lower than the least-watched ceremony ever.
Nielsen said Monday that overnight ratings are also 21 percent lower than last year, when "The Departed" was named best picture.
Perhaps it's because, except for "Juno," so few people saw the movies nominated this year. I think most of the wins were well-deserved.
I was most excited that the score for "Atonement" by Dario Marianelli won because I thought it was absolutely brilliant, especially during the first 5 minutes of the movie.
Most of all I'm happy that the Oscars are -- over! That means the end of awards season and getting my Sunday nights back.
